Meet Robert Boller

Robert Boller

We’re happy to introduce you to Robert — the guy who helps makes our red and white wines “green.”  Robert runs the sustainability program for Kendall-Jackson and began developing our corporate responsibility program in the fall of 2008.

Robert got into the wine biz in 1989 when he came to California on vacation from NYC and never looked back!  Since then he’s split his time evenly between sales, marketing and operations. After joining Kendall-Jackson in 2002 to run one of our marketing divisions he jumped at the chance to spend more time outdoors while managing our Santa Barbara vineyards, winery and cattle ranch.

He’s a backcountry camping enthusiast and is passionate about maintaining our natural environment.  One experience that brought it all together for him was a solo trip at the top of a 14,000 foot mountain.  “I hadn’t seen any people or signs of humanity in four days and there at the summit was a deflated, red balloon” said Robert.  “Looking across the peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains it became clear — even the small things we do at home are beginning to have an effect we don’t see.”

Robert and his wife Caroline are back in Sonoma and when he’s not busy playing with their very “energetic” one and three year-old boys, he’s pursuing his other passion — cooking!

    Greetings Mr. Boller;

    Great to hear that Kendall-Jackson has a full-time Sustainability VP. I’m in the MBA program at Portland State University, pursuing a focus in sustainability, and would love to learn how you implement sustainable practices, especially they apply to sales and marketing.

      Thank you Bruce. It’s great to work for a company that’s committed to sustainability. It’s equally exciting to hear about all the people coming to the market with sustainability education. We’ll contact you shortly to share any advice that may be useful in navigating the world of Corporate Social Responsibility.

        Mr. Boller, similar to Bruce I am a MBA student, but here in the Bay Area and looking at sustainability at wineries. I just saw the Kendall-Jackson water savings project and was wondering if I could speak with you regarding sustainability projects you are working on. Thanks for any help. -Alex

    Mr. Boller,

    Great introduction on red, white and GREEN wines! I have a excellent marketing and partnership opportunity that I would like to discuss further as the Sustainability Champion for Visual Marking Systems, in Twinsburg Ohio. This is called the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP). SGP validates a printing companies ‘green claims’ and holds them to stringent criteria elements and a third-party audit. This avoids green washing claims. I’d enjoy the opportunity to provide this information to you, and also hear how your industry responds to the claims other companies make regarding sustainability issues. My email is listed below:
