Tuesdays can be the toughest day of the week: no more reminiscing with coworkers about the amazing weekend you had, it’s not quite the middle of the week, not too many exciting things on Tuesday nights to stay entertained. We have an idea for you: celebrate Tuesdays anyway!

There are so many ways to gather your friends and make this longest-day-of-the week something to actually look forward to:

Test a new recipe: Your friends love your spaghetti with homemade sauce but how about inviting them over on Tuesdays to try out something new from our bank of recipes? Try your hand at Grilled Corn & Squash Bruschetta to really surprise your guests. Don’t forget the K-J Chardonnay!

Break out the good stuff: From the K-J Grand Reserve wine to your nicest plates, break the monotony and enjoy the finer things on Tuesdays.

The playlist that brings it all together: Start your evening with songs that will keep your energy up while cooking and preparing for your friends to arrive. Keep the get-together going with songs you’d sing in your car. If you do, you know your friends do, and no one will be able to resist singing along.

Conversation & story-telling: You shouldn’t have a problem with this – you’re all friends for a reason! Your weekends, your work weeks, your family – talk about a gold mine of funny stories that will have you all cracking up.

Raise your glass & toast to Tuesdays: they go well with friends.

If you come by Partake by K-J, you’ll be greeted with a taste of wine in a black glass. Is it red? Is it white? Is it fruity? Is it dry? Be intrigued by the challenge of figuring out the wine, relishing the aromas, the flavors, the finish. Our chef pairs this mystery wine with an amazing amuse bouche to help set off the flavors in both the wine & the food.

If you can’t make it to Healdsburg, take this idea and kick off your next dinner party with a dark glass and a mystery wine. Challenge your friends to guess the varietal. Pair this mystery wine with a small bite so the flavors pop. Need help with a pairing? We’re here for you. Visit our food & wine pairing page for ideas! Have fun with the guessing and maybe even throw a prize in the mix for the friend who guesses correctly. Enjoy the food & wine pairing, savor every sip & every bite.

I haven’t posted for a while, but I have been crazy busy lately – last month we opened our new Tasting Lounge & Eatery in Healdsburg, Partake by K-J.

If you haven’t stopped by Partake by K-J yet, please come by and check us out. It’s a new concept that brings together the best elements of a restaurant, wine bar and tasting room into one space. Our Culinary team has created an amazing “small plates” menu that includes Bites (seasonal plates with recommended wine pairings) and Flights (wine & food pairings specifically selected by our chefs).

We love our new location at 241 Healdsburg Ave (right next door to the La Crema Tasting Room). It’s really fun & inspiring to be cooking in Healdsburg, it’s truly become one of the top culinary destinations in the country. Amazing produce, artisan products, wineries and restaurants are all tucked into this small town in the heart of wine country.

Below are a couple of pics of some of my favorite spring dishes featuring vegetables from our garden paired with some killer K-J wines.

We hope you get a chance to try the Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve wines soon if you haven’t yet. These wines are crafted from 100% Jackson Estates Grown grapes which are hand-selected from our vineyard estates. This means that all of the grapes that go into these wines are from vineyards that we own.

Today we’re featuring the Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from our Jackson Estates Grown vineyards in Santa Barbara and Monterey counties.

“Rich tropical fruit intertwines with grapefruit, lemon and candied lime peel. Elegantly layered, this wine exhibits a lush texture and firm backbone with a hint of vanilla and cinnamon spice to round out the long finish.” – Randy Ullom, Winemaster

Have you tried this wine? Leave your tasting notes in the comments!

As a company, Jackson Family Wines has been hard at work recreating ourselves as a more sustainable enterprise for the past five years, and even though we know that there is a lot more left to do, it’s great to step back and acknowledge the progress we have made. Last week we were named 2013 Green Company of the Year by the drinks business, Europe’s leading drinks trade publication!

It’s a huge honor to be recognized in this way! Not only did we win the Green Company of the Year, but we were also nominated in two other categories as finalists for the Sustainability Award of the Year and the Environmental Award of the Year. The Green Company of the Year award was given based on our implementation of environmentally sensitive practices in all aspects of our operations and for our overall impact on energy savings, waste reduction and conservation. We were selected from a record number of international nominations, including wineries in Spain, New Zealand and South Africa.

“My family and I are honored to receive this award from the drinks business, especially considering the efforts of other wine companies worldwide,” said Barbara Banke. “We hope to serve as an example of what is possible and inspire others to make preservation of the environment a top priority. Doing the right thing is beneficial in so many ways, both for the future of our business and our community at large.”

Just to recap, here are the main accomplishments we highlighted for the awards committee – you can read up about any of these projects on our blog.

Cogenra – our combined solar hot water and electricity system at our production facility, Kittyhawk, is the largest rooftop Cogenra installation in the country

In 2011 we won the EPA Green Power Leadership award for our its comprehensive energy management program including process improvements and upgrading energy efficient equipment.

We purchase Wind Power Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) for 100% of our electrical consumption, and on behalf of all our employees home usage.

100% of our Estate vineyards are certified under the Certified CA Sustainable Winegrowing and Sustainability in Practice programs. We are the largest participant by acreage in both programs.
