DIY Marbled Mini Pinch Bowls

My husband and I are pretty much obsessed with charcuterie, so we decided for our housewarming party, we’d go hard with that obsession and create a massive charcuterie spread! Covering an entire table with food was something that took a little bit of planning and a lot of brainstorming accessories and ways to display the foods at different heights. I laid out a bunch of serving trays, cheese boards, and bowls for the different foods and mustards, but we decided to put various salts out as well — so i diy’ed some cute little bowls for them!

These DIY Marbled Mini Pinch Bowls are a fun and easy way to elevate a simple wooden salt bowl.

MATERIALS

  • Small wooden bowls
  • Nail polish
  • Disposable container
  • Plastic fork or chopstick

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a container you don’t mind ruining (I used an old margarine tub), pour in some warm water (you don’t want the tub too full, and you don’t want the water too hot or cold).
  2. Pour one of your nail polish colors in, followed by your next (followed by your next if you choose to use three colors) — then slowly and gently mix with your utensil. a little goes a long way when it comes to your colors. you can also use only one color for more of a watercolor effect.
  3. Practice before using your bowls with a piece of card stock to get the hang of it. Your patterns will never be the exact same and you’ll get the hang of the technique once you do it a few times.
  4. You may need to redo your colors at this point because they dry quickly. If they start clumping, pour out and do again. Dip your bowl slowly with a light push into the water, but don’t submerge.
  5. Once you pull your bowl back out, let dry upside down.
  6. Fill with unique salts (we got a bunch at fun kinds our local spice store) and serve at your next party!
